The glossary. Looking up words in the built-in glossary happens on your device. We only count that a word was looked up, not which one. To show a photo of it, your browser asks Wikipedia for that word's picture.
Menus you send. When you explain a menu or ask about a word that isn't in the glossary, that menu text, photo or word is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to write the explanation. We don't store menu photos.
Your tastes. The flavors, language and light or dark look you pick are saved only in your browser.
Counting free explains. Your browser gets a random ID, and we keep a one-way hash of your IP address, so we can count free explains per day. No name, no account.
Payments. Bar Pass payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your card.
Email. If you join the waitlist, we keep your email only to tell you when Bar Pass launches.
